Ecologically Sustainable Urban Development
The details are below for the “Ecologically Sustainable Urban Development” Project of Gaziantep, Nilüfer, Muğla and Antakya Municipalities (Turkey) and Karlstad Municipality (Sweden) for conceptualizing and modelling a high level of sustainability in an urban development or regeneration area towards an eco-city concept:
Title of the Project: Ecologically Sustainable Urban Development
Project Partners: Gaziantep, Nilüfer, Muğla, Antakya, Karlstad
Project Duration: 24 months
Project Objectives: The overall objective of the Project is to contribute to enhanced local governance in Turkey. The specific objective is improved municipal capacity to provide services in the area of sustainable urban development within the concept of sustainable development (SD).
Target group(s): Relevant civil servants; decision makers/politicians; and, residents in addressed urban development/regeneration areas.
Final beneficiaries: Relevant civil servants; decision makers/politicians; and, residents in addressed urban development/regeneration areas.
Expected results: Main expected result is to deliver a guideline in the thematic field “eco city SD strategy” for policy change and deliver an example of training modules, which both can be of use for other municipalities through the activities of UMT.
Main activities: With consideration of the project’s horizontal themes and the concept of sustainable development, conceptualizing and modelling a high level of sustainability in an urban development or regeneration area towards an eco city concept.
